DJ Johnson Memorial Basketball Court Opening

INVITATION TO THE MEMORIAL COURT OPENING AT MADDY DODGE FIELD – SATURDAY, JUNE

27TH – 10:30 am

The Johnson family and the Islesboro Recreation Department would like to invite all community

members and guests to a Memorial Court opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony at Maddy Dodge

Field.

The Johnson family and Islesboro Recreation Department would also like to thank all the town staff

and community members who made this project possible with their generous donations of time and

financial support.

The idea for a memorial basketball court started as a small idea in the Spring of 2025. With the help

of the Islesboro Recreation Department, the Johnson family planned a revitalization project for the

space at Maddy Dodge Field to honor DJ Johnson and use their memories of him to motivate

improvements to the court for the community. The basketball court is the perfect way to honor DJ

and two things he was most passionate about: the community and basketball. The Johnson Family

saw the basketball court as an opportunity to Dream Big and create a space for the community that

would make DJ proud.

DJ had an immense impact on his family and the Islesboro community, and we hope the community

will enjoy this new space as a place to feel that same positive impact in a new way for many years to

come. So please join us on Saturday, June 27th, at 10:30 am at the Memorial Court at Maddy Dodge

Field to show community support and put up a few shots on the new court!

Please note that fundraising for other community projects is ongoing. If you would like to donate to

make the town park shine brighter, please email recreation@townofislesboro.com or send checks

made out to Islesboro Town Office (memo: Recreation) to Town Office, P .O. Box 76, Islesboro, ME

04848.

Thank you Islesboro!
