Who we are

PUBLISHER & EDITOR

Dan is a sixth generation islander. Before landing at the Island News, he worked as a stonemason, landscaper, garden designer, bar tender, server, barista, graphic designer, preserve and trail manager, and founded and ran a medical cannabis company and an ultra-light adventure hammock business. He briefly attended Pratt Institute, Bennington College, Humboldt State University, and the University of Southern Maine. He won a writing contest in sixth grade.

ASSOCIATE EDITOR

Saskia grew up in Brooklyn but was and remains her freest, happiest self when wandering through the woods on Islesboro (the ticks are also happy when this happens). Thanks to her Warren family roots, she has spent time on the island every year of her 25-year life. After studying environmental science at Yale University, she lived for a time in Germany and later in France, but is at present back in the states to complete a master's in Science, Health and Environmental Reporting at NYU. If her submissions to the Island News start to become deeply scientific, that'll be why.
